New year, new… gym accessories! This past year has flown by and its safe to say that the new year is going to bring lots of lifestyle changes, dieters and brand new gym kits. Hopefully Santa was kind and brought everyone protein powder, bottles and workout clothes. If he didn’t it’s time to hit the sales and find those new pieces to make your workout stand out! This week’s gym bag dreams is a few bits that you should be using to say ‘Bye bye 2015, hello 2016.’ I’ve chosen sparkle and gold in honour of the new year, as it’s a time when bottles of bubbly, glittery eye shadow and sparkly dresses reign supreme.
Butter London Stratford honey overcoat nail lacquer
Working out needn’t be dull, and a new you should be shouting it from the rooftops that you are on a mission to get fit in 2016. Add a touch of sparkle to your workouts with this golden overcoat available to buy from Boots. The vibrant colour from Butter London will keep the New Year’s Eve electricity flowing through your workouts and give you the confidence you need in the gym.
Women’s Reebok gold classic leather spirit trainers
If you wear trainers for comfort or fashion, as well as for hitting the gym, these stylish gold beauties are bound to get you seen. New for this season, they have a leather upper and fabric lining, are effortless to wear and provide comfort to your hardworking feet. With a textured look in metallic gold they transition from gym to shopping with ease.
Tresemme liquid gold
After a month of Christmas affairs it has taken its toll on my hair. Lots of backcombing, hairspray, straightening and curling later and it is in desperate need of a pre-Christmas pick-me-up. Tresemme’s liquid gold is perfect for nourishing hair and transforms it, leaving a velvety finish, with a salon shine, as is their slogan. It reduces frizz, helps with styling and improves manageability. Perfect.
A bigger, better version of the SmartShake is here! In an XL size you get one big and one small container meaning that you can store several servings of your favourite supplements including protein, vitamins and capsules without worry. It has anti-leak technology, something that I desperately need as I have long walk to work in a morning and the last thing I need is spillage that I find out about half an hour after the fact. It is also freezer, dishwasher and microwave save, plus it can hold liquid up to 120°C. It’s also quite pretty for a shaker, don’t you think?
Puma women’s metallic shorts
Not going to lie, these literally called out to me. HOW. GREAT. ARE. THESE? Available in small, medium and large, they are probably my favourite shorts to date as they are rose gold metallic-coated and while they may not fit the usual practicality of some of my other clothing options, they are just fantastic. Comfortable inner jersey lining, so no rough rubbing against your thighs on a run – so they are practical really. They also have an elasticated waistband. LOVE!
Myprotein mybar zero
Perfect for on the go, I always like to keep protein bars to hand as they give me that extra boost I need. These zero bars come in five flavours, so hopefully there is one to suit your taste, flavours include lemon cheesecake, chocolate and apple cinnamon. Each bar contains 20g of protein and they can even be heated up as an alternative way to eat them as they go gooey.
Superdrug gold shimmer dry shampoo
My hair requires daily washing to not turn into a grease ball, it’s not something we like to talk about but it’s true. I’m not blessed with the ‘once a week wash’ that so many other lucky ladies are so on day two, the dreaded day of ‘no poo’ dry shampoo is a must. This one from Superdrug has a little gold shimmer in it to make it a little more fun. Sparkles in your hair is on trend right now, isn’t it? Or has Katy Perry been lying to me?!
Echo metallic print tote bag
Gym bags do not need to be boring rucksacks or similarly plain totes. This gold stunner from ASOS is huge! It could probably fit your whole life in it. I love the colour and there is no way you could lose it in the changing room, that is for sure. It has a gold-tone print, twin handles which are long enough to fit over your shoulder and an inner pouch to keep things like your phone and keys separate.
Lonsdale challenger boxing gloves
I’ve always wanted to take up boxing. I think it would be good for me both physically and emotionally, but it’s finding classes that fit with my work and transport. I’ve been thinking maybe I should invest in some gloves and use the punching bag in my gym, but I’m a little scared. These Lonsdale metallic boxing gloves are easy to put on and have a breathable panel to stop your hands from getting too hot.
Selfie print crop top
This one is for the younger girls who may be thinking of toning up as this teens crop top from New Look would be a great top to layer over a vest in the gym. Suitable for up to 15 years old, it’s something a little more fun and you are never too young to look after your health and with everyone a little more health conscious at this time of year, if you’re taking your sister or daughter on walks, jogs or just extreme shopping trips, this #selfie top is cute addition.
