Having tried many meal replacement shakes before, as well as those self-named ‘slimming drinks’, I’m always apprehensive about new drinks on the market. The general consensus is that they don’t work, you don’t get any benefits from them and it’s just money down the drain. However, I think I’ve found something that goes against everything that I’ve known, and I’m not just saying that.
Just before Christmas I was introduced to Ufit, a flavoured milk bursting with essential proteins, fibre, vitamins and minerals, as well as containing no added sugar – all the things we want and need from a protein drink! I tried both flavours, strawberry and chocolate, and while I favoured the chocolate as I’m a self-confessed chocoholic, I found both flavours hit that sweet spot. Over the course of two weeks I had one for breakfast, as mid-afternoon snack or as a pre-gym drink to give me that extra oomph in my step.
Some people may find it a little sweet, and it has a consistency (thickness) of other popular milkshakes you’ll find in the shops, such as Yazoo – I don’t like Yazoo though, I always feel like I can taste the sugar and it has a slightly obscure aftertaste that I can’t shake for a while after I’ve drunk it. Safe to say I’ve only had one Yazoo in the last 15 years, and I won’t be having another, but I can’t say that about Ufit. I genuinely enjoyed it.
In the past I have found simple milkshakes from some ‘slimming companies’ to be very watery and would leave me feeling hungry afterwards, but Ufit was thick, creamy and filling, so I wasn’t craving something more substantial afterwards like I have done in the past.
